Apart from time, coffee and knowledge what do you give to members who come and visit you for a Recon Meeting?

Today I would like to introduce the concept of the Recon Pack,

The idea comes from the goodie bags and promotional material that companies tend to give away at trade shows and exhibitions. The trade show pack aims to give the visitor something that would remind them about the company they visited and give them useful information.

The Recon Pack is the same, the contents are up to you, but the idea is that it helps the other member to refer your more easily.

My packs consist of a folder containing free colour leaflets, some one-page descriptions of my company, several business cards and three logoed pens. All designed so that the member can give away this information should the opportunity to refer me arise.

Like any aspect of a business, you need to make it easy for people to want to do business with you. If you equip the members of the group with information they can physically pass on it becomes a reminder to the referred person about you and your ability to help them, even before they have met you.

If everyone had prepared packs and everyone conducted regular recon meetings, we would all end up with a compact library of information that would go way beyond the power of a simple business card.

So your homework for this week is to think about what you could put in a recon pack and to start using them to boost the effectiveness of the time you dedicate to conducting recons.
